Rumor: Kevin Love To The Lakers
Marilyn Indahl-US PRESSWIRE

Mere weeks after their Chris Paul trade was shot down by league officials, the Lakers are now setting their sights on Minnesota. According to The New York Post’s Peter Vecsey, Los Angeles has been actively pursuing Kevin Love, and are said to be offering Pau Gasol and a First Round pick for the burgeoning big man.

This rumor is obviously one to be taken with a grain of salt for both the facts that it’s Peter Vecsey making the claims, but more importantly that it involves a “potential trade” in the NBA. It seems like every morning there is a different destination for a different superstar. But, you never know I guess?

The thing that surprises me the most about this, most recent, potential Laker shake up is that, yet again, Pau Gasol’s name is in the mix. Now obviously he is one of their biggest betting chips, but doesn’t it seem like with every passing offer that they make, his name begins to carry less and less clout? Like a lonely guy in a bar, the Lakers are coming on too strong with their advances and are now beginning to show signs of desperation.

But, with all that said, Gasol would be a solid return for the T’Wolves, assuming that they are certain that an extension for franchise player, Kevin Love, cannot be reached. Love gave Minnesota a deadline for said extension, January 15th, which is fast approaching. As that day nears, if the two sides remain separated by negotiations, don’t be surprised to see the T’Wolves begin to scramble for potential trade suitors and while I’m sure their will be plenty of offers on the table, the Lakers may have just enough to bring pry him away.

6 Rants to “Rumor: Kevin Love To The Lakers”

  1. Steven Resnick says:

Makes no sense, the Lakers are better off waiting until he becomes a free agent to attempt to sign him.

    • KB says:

They couldn’t sign Love if they wanted too because of Cap space. Getting rid of Pau Gasol would fix that problem. So actually it makes plenty of sense.

  2. Devonte says:

That would be the best trade for the Lakers Kobe and Bynum will be happy and I guarantee U they will come out the West with Mike Brown bad coaching. Trade Gasol,Ebanks,Barnes,& Blake to Minnesota for K.Love and M.Beasley that would be a fair trade.

    • Vince Cunningham says:

Thanks for the response Devonte, I like where your heads at here, but I cant see the Twolves throwing Beasley in as well.

  3. Ted says:

Hey, great rumor! I have one too… Kobe Bryant for Wesley Johnson. Isn’t this fun?

There is no way the TWolves trade their best player who is only 23 years old for a 31 year-old who is rapidly becoming washed up.

    • Vince Cunningham says:

Hey Ted, thanks for the response. I agree with you, if I was the GM for Minnesota, there is no way I would let Kevin Love go. But he’s not happy with the way contract negotiations are going and rather then letting him walk at the end of his deal, they may try to get some return for him. Im sure the Cavs wish they did the same thing with LeBron when the writing was on the wall for his departure from Cleveland.
