Kenyon Martin Agrees To Terms With Clippers
Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to terms with Kenyon Martin according to a source from ESPN Los Angeles. The 34-year-old was also considering offers from the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks. This is a huge steal for the up-and-coming Los Angeles Clippers.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com, ”The former Denver forward, who reached a buyout agreement with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers on Dec. 21 and was cleared by FIBA to return to the NBA two weeks ahead of schedule earlier this week, will make $2.5 million.”

Kenyon Martin was said to be locked into a contract with the Chinese that was holding himself and three other NBA players back, including two of his former Nuggets’ teammates; J.R. Smith and Wilson Chandler and the Phoenix Suns Aaron Brooks.

This signing just goes to show with the right amount of money, anyone can be bought out, even a team from China. This signing also illustrates the new change of power in the NBA from one Los Angeles franchise to the other. The Clippers are now the toast of the town and Martin will eliminate a great deal of pressure from Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Martin is an enforcer and will take pride in defending his teammate Mr. Griffin. I feel this is a great move and will only strengthen a veteran-laden talented group in Los Angeles. With this move, I now predict the Los Angles Clippers to advance to the Western Conference Finals where they will fall to OKC. However, before this move I had them losing in the western semifinals.
