LeBron James Contacts Cleveland Cavaliers Hoping For A Return
Michael Hickey-US PRESSWIRE

When LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010 he immediately became enemy No.1 in the state of Ohio. James, who grew up in Akron, Ohio, was no longer the beloved hero who had led St. Vincent- St. Mary High School to three state titles in four years but a man with a target on his back. Since the infamous decision on July 8th, 2010 the hate towards James has died down a little, but not too much. LeBron has said since the decision that he should have handled things better and that he was upset by all the anger towards him from Cleveland’s fans.

So with LeBron knowing all of this about Cleveland and how the Cavalier fan base cannot stand him anymore it would be crazy to think that he would want to eventually come back to the Cavs right? Well maybe not. According to a report by Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski LeBron has already started clearing his path back to Cleveland. “LeBron James came to Cleveland with an unmistakable mission this week, the beginning of a campaign to soften the fans and ownership on his desire to return to the Cavaliers in 2014. Free agency is forever on his mind, and James is determined to make his hometown want him as much as he wants it again.”

“This was no accident, no misspeaking, nothing out of context. Before mentioning Thursday his openness to playing in Cleveland again, James months ago had an emissary or two carry that message to the Cavaliers’ front office, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. His camp wanted the message delivered to owner Dan Gilbert, sources said, but so far, the response has been silence.” Pretty interesting stuff from LeBron who seems to be doing some sneaky work behind the scenes but probably the most interesting piece of information from this whole report was this, “He (LeBron James) has started to lay the groundwork, and he’s waiting to see what Dan Gilbert’s reaction to it (a possible return) is,” one league source with direct knowledge told Yahoo! Sports.

If LeBron did in fact return to Cleveland he would still be in his prime and playing at an élite level, also the Cavsroster would probably still be mostly in tact. LeBron would have more weapons around him than the first seven years in Cleveland most notably Kyrie Irving who has turned into an explosive player. If Cavs fans, and Dan Gilbert, can get over the humiliation and anger that the decision brought them and accept LeBron back to the Cavaliers franchise, they would be put in a position to win their first ever NBA title.
