Mitch Kupchak: Los Angeles Lakers Presumably Done Dealing
If you have seen a Los Angeles Lakers game this season, or most notably their dismal performance today against the Phoenix Suns, you would know that they are just not that good this season. There is something missing on this Lakers roster and until they can find out wht it is they will have no chance at winning another NBA championship. Almost every Laker fan in the world can see what I, and almost everyone else can see, so Mitch Kupchak and the Lakers front office must be able to see it too right? Well maybe not.
In a report by Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated Mitch Kupchak said that he feels that this is probably going to be the Lakers roster heading into the playoffs. ”Of course we’ll talk to a lot of teams [about trades], like everybody else does, leading up until the trade deadline to see if there is a way to improve the team,” Kupchak said. “But the likelihood is that this is the team that’s going to finish into the playoffs. That’s just the way it normally works, but we’ll see.”
“While Kobe Bryant has been critical of Kupchak in the past, he offered his support recently. The good thing is he trusts the organization, and we’ll do everything we can do to get better,” Kupchak said. “We’ll look to do something big, and we’ll look to do something small, or maybe we’ll do nothing at all. Sometimes a small deal is all a team needs to get over a hump, so I wouldn’t categorize something that we’re looking to do as big, small or medium.”
If Kupchak does indeed stick to his word and doesn’t make a deal by the trade deadline then it will be very hard to see the Lakers making any type of deep run in the playoffs.
