Chicago Bulls’ Joakim Noah Records First Career Triple-Double

In Derrick Rose’s second game returning from injury the Chicago Bulls were able to hold off a feisty Milwaukee Bucks team to get their second win in three nights with a 110-91 victory. It was the last game for the Bulls before the All-Star break. One would think that the reigning MVP Rose would be the main headline from tonight’s game… not the case. Chicago Bulls’ center, Joakim Noah posted his first career triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. The last “big man” to post a triple-double for the Bulls was Artis Gilmore when he did it back in 1977. Noah was absolutely everywhere tonight as he gobbled up so many rebounds with his Dennis Rodman-like play and dished the ball out like he was Rose himself. Noah had the triple-double by the end of the third quarter and did not return for the rest of the game… and the Bulls did not need him to. The “bench mob” took care of business in the fourth quarter, feeding off of Noah’s energy as the Bulls were able to rout the Bucks and secure the win.

In the first half the Bucks started double teaming Rose at the half-court line and they ended up paying for it in the end. Noah was always there to get the ball and really initiated the offense in the half-court set. Furthermore, Noah gave the Bulls a great spark with his intensity, as they were able to win the game despite having 20 turnovers. Basketball fans know that Noah is always good for 10-plus rebounds and about 10 points a night. However, I think fans got to see Noah’s entire repertoire tonight, specifically his passing. I always knew that Noah was a great passer and tonight everyone got to see that too as he posted a career high 10 assists.

Noah is probably one of the best passing big men in the game today and if anyone refutes that I would point them to tonight’s game as a friendly reminder. Noah is only recording 2.2 assists this season, which is respectable for a center, but tonight Noah showed that he can lead the break and find the open man. This was a great win for Noah and the Bulls going into the All-Star break and hopefully they can pick up where they left off following the All-Star break. If Noah can play like this with consistency the Chicago Bulls can be a very dangerous team and should give teams a lot of trouble come playoff time. Go Bulls!
