Trades aren’t the only thing happening in the NBA this week.  Per Yahoo, New York Knickshead coach Mike D’Antoni has resigned.  The writing was on the wall as D’Antoni was without a contract for next year.  The Knicks are currently 18-24 and are out of the playoffs due to the Milwaukee Bucks having the tiebreaker advantage.

The main question I have is simply- did Carmelo Anthony have anything to do with his firing? There were reports surfacing that Carmelo Anthony wanted to leave New York after only a year, and then discredited with more reports of Anthony denying he demanded a trade. It’s clearly a drama fest in the big apple this year.

With the Knicks struggling, D’Antoni was feeling the pressure.  Rumors were floating around that he would be fired sooner rather than later.  I expect Mike Woodson to take over in the interim, with Jerry Sloan and Phil Jackson being candidates next year.

At least they have Jeremy Lin…or not.
