New Jersey Nets To Pursue Kevin Garnett In Free-Agency
Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Now that the 2012 NBA trade deadline has come and gone the days of trade rumors are long gone, but don’t worry the days of who will be bought out, and who might be pursued in the upcoming free-agency period, has just begun. One of the first rumors to come out is in regards to the New Jersey Nets. The Nets were left in a pretty bad position by the Dwight Howard saga as Deron Williams has stated that he will test free-agency this summer, presumably a direct cause of Howard’s decision to opt-in for another year with the Orlando Magic.

The Nets did not even think about trading Williams at the deadline and instead targeted Gerald Wallace in a first of many moves to try and convince Williams to stay. Reportedly the Nets will have many more moves to come starting with a pursuit of free-agent to-be Kevin Garnett. According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated (per Hoops Hype) the Nets are prepared to pursue Kevin Garnett in free-agency this summer.

Also, according to Mannix, one NBA executive said that Garnett may have to be willing to take on a cheaper contract if he does indeed sign with the Nets. Garnett will be one of the more sought after free-agents this summer, and there has been no indication from Garnett, or any other outlet, where Garnett intends to sign.
