Milwaukee Bucks’ Drew Gooden Named Eastern Conference Player Of The Week
Eric P. Mull-US PRESSWIRE

Milwaukee Bucks center Drew Gooden has been named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The honor comes one week after teammate Ersan Ilyasova received the award for the first time in his young career.

The Bucks posted a 3-0 record over the past week with wins against the New Jersey Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. Milwaukee is currently riding a five game winning streak and has won six of their last seven games with the lone loss coming at the hands of a Derrick Rose buzzer beater.

Gooden is playing better than anyone could have ever anticipated when he signed with the Bucks two seasons ago. Over the past week he has averaged 18.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. His second career triple-double proved to be huge against the Cavaliers on March 14 as he recorded 15 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in the victory.

Milwaukee is playing some of their best basketball all season and look like they are coming into their own. The team has recorded more than 30 assists in the last five games including a NBA season-high 38 assists against the Cavaliers.

Now that the team has added shooting guard Monta Ellis and power forward Ekpe Udoh look for the Bucks to make a serious run into the postseason with 22 games remaining on the schedule. Milwaukee is currently one-half game behind the New York Knicks for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
