Who is the hottest team in the NBA right now? Ok, so the name at the top gave it away, but you better believe it.

San Antonio is quietly riding a seven game winning streak. How can a team who is one of the most underrated teams in the NBA, been discounted again and again, continue to keep on winning games without anyone noticing? San Antonio cruised to a victory over the Indiana Pacers last night, resulting in their seventh win in a row.

The Spurs have also won ten of their past eleven games, continuing to produce at levels higher than expected. The San Antonio Spurs also have one of the deepest benches since Tim Duncan began his time in San Antonio, highly applauding the Spurs management for bringing in fresh, young talent for a deep run.

Many consider the Spurs too old, too slow, and not athletic enough to compete with teams for a championship. But I am here to disagree.

Tim Duncan has been on a terror since his “DNP-OLD” box line against the Philadelphia 76′ers, averaging 22.3 points and 10 rebounds per game. Not bad for a guy many consider to be too old.

Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are continuing to produce at high levels. Parker should be in the MVP race for what he has done with Ginobili on the bench. Manu is also only going to get in a better playing shape as the season goes on considering he has missed more games than he has played so far.

The Spurs acquired Boris Diaw, Stephen Jackson, and Patty Mills around the trade deadline to strengthen their bench. They are currently 3rd in the NBA averaging over 100 points per game, and sixth in the league averaging over 22 assists per game.

The Spurs have handled the top teams in the league this year, and encountered close losses with some of their best players out. Don’t be surprised to hear them making noise in the playoffs.
