Portland Trail Blazers Lose LaMarcus Aldridge For Season
Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE

The Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge will miss the remainder of the season to undergo left hip surgery, according to the Trail Blazers PR Twitter. Aldridge has a slight labral tear in his right hip and will need an arthroscopic procedure.

The news coming out of Trial Blazers camp just adds to the roller coaster season that the team has been going through. The team started out 7-2 at the beginning of the season and with the questionable play about point guard Raymond Felton, the deadline trade that sent Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets and the dismissal of Nate McMillan has put this team in a crazy situation.

Luckily, the Trail Blazers picked up forward J.J. Hickson mid-season and in 12 games with Portland, Hickson is averaging 14.1 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. Hickson is going to get most of the starts now that Aldridge will miss the rest of the year after Hickson had a terrible campaign with the Sacramento Kings.

With the Kings this season, Hickson was averaging 4.7 points per game in 35 games. He is definitely feeling rejuvenated with the Trail Blazers.

Aldridge ends his sixth season with the Trail Blazers an All-Star selection. He was averaging 21.7 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game. This was one of his best seasons of his career and it is sad to see that it will end this way.

Portland is 28-31 this season and are currently on the outside looking into the Western Conference playoff picture. The Houston Rockets currently hold the eighth seed in the west with a 32-26 record.
