San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan proving that he’s not done yet
Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

He’s never been a flashy player. He’s never been a big talker. He’s never acted the way that most would expect an NBA superstar to act.

Instead, he approaches the game of basketball with a business-like demeanor, a blue-collar work ethic. With a quiet humbleness throughout his 15 year professional career, San Antonio Spurs center/power forward Tim Duncan has quietly and methodically become one of the best NBA players of all-time, and the best power-forward of this generation.

For those NBA fans wondering whether or not Duncan was too old to make another playoff run, he’s proven (along with the rest of his Spurs teammates) that he’s not done yet.

After sweeping the Utah Jazz in the first round of this year’s NBA Playoffs, the Spurs met up with the up-and-coming Los Angeles Clippers in round two.

The match-up pitted one of the leagues newest and hottest powers forwards, Blake Griffin, against the old yet consistent  Tim Duncan, and it would be the elder who left most people talking–scoring 26 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in the Spurs 108-92 victory.

Sure, people say he is boring. That may be true, but does it really matter?

He gets the job done. Period.

Here we are, 15 years into his career, and Duncan is still looking like the same player that led the Spurs to four championships.

Through five playoff games this year, he is averaging 16.6 points per game and 9 rebounds per game.

Though the thirty-six year old’s averages may be down a shade this season, Duncan knows that he is heading into the finals stages of his career, and so far, he is showing us that he’s not done yet.

Although he has not made any public comments about whether or not he will retire, he has to know hat a fifth NBA championship ring with be the perfect ending to one of the best NBA careers of all-time, and he’s playing like he’s on a mission to get it.
