The buzz around the Denver Nuggets camp, along with their fanbase, is the re-signing of Denver’s young and athletic center in JaVale McGee. While his returning to the Mile High was a ENORMOUS move for Denver’s young squad moving forward, it wasn’t the only move that was made.
Meet Anthony Randolph.
Summer League began last week and it was during this time Denver Nuggets General Manager, Masai Ujiri, along with Head Coach George Karl, was seen courting Randolph in Vegas. It got folks talking, and while many believed Denver would never use their amnesty on Chris “Birdman” Andersen, in the end Denver was interested in what Anthony Randolph would bring to the team.
Randolph stands 6’11′ and weighs in at 223 pounds, and averaged 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds last season.
Randolph has “potential” and talent for days, but J.R. Smith also had “potential” and we see how far that has took him, nevertheless, Randolph is a work in progress. Which isn’t a bad thing, considering the Nuggets have a history of developing players and at $2 million/yr for three years it’s a relative cheap project.
Anthony Randolph is a gifted offensive player, confident, but doesn’t have a great work ethic. However, under an old school coach like George Karl, that type of attitude will not last long.
Randolph will join a rotation of Al Harrington, Timofey Mozgov, and Kosta Koufos that will come off the bench to back up Javale McGee, center postition, and fan favorite Kenneth Faried at the power forward position.
Either way, Anthony Randoph joins a Denver Nuggets team that is as deep as the Atlantic Ocean.
