Dallas Cowboys Will Draft 9th Overall in 2011 NFL Draft
Following Sunday’s 14-13 win at Philadelphia, the Dallas Cowboys will draft No. 9 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Cowboys entered the game with a chance at drafting as high as No. 5 overall with a loss to the Eagles and as late as No. 13 with the win. With a 6-10 record, Dallas came out somewhere in between because of the NFL’s strength of schedule tie-breaker. Among the seven teams that finished 6-10, only the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans will draft higher than Dallas.
Since the Cowboys finished third in the NFC East, the team will draft one spot above the Washington Redskins. Dallas split the season series with Washington, but got the higher spot in the division and the draft order thanks to the strength of schedule rule. Below is the order of the non-playoff teams for the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. Nos. 21-32 will be decided by playoff finishes.
1. Panthers 2-14
2. Broncos 4-12
3. Bills 4-12
4. Bengals 4-12
5. Cardinals 5-11
6. Browns 5-11
7. 49ers 6-10
8. Titans 6-10
9. Cowboys 6-10
10. Redskins 6-10
11. Texans 6-10
12. Vikings 6-10
13. Lions 6-10
14. Dolphins 7-9
15. Rams 8-8
16. Jaguars 8-8
17. Patriots (from Raiders 8-8)
18. Chargers 9-7
19. Giants 10-6
20. Buccaneers 10-6
