There’s a rising star in Dallas and he doesn’t play hockey. Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee currently ranks second in the NFL in tackles, second in interceptions and first in fumble recoveries. Somebody besides the Dallas faithful has finally taken notice. On Wednesday, Lee earned NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors, something no other player in Cowboys history has done.

The month of September was Lee’s first as an NFL starter and he made the most of it. He recorded 31 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, three passed defended and one tackle for loss. It’s surprising that no other Cowboy has ever won the award, which was first presented in 1986.
