Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is going to get his numbers; that’s a given. He leads the NFL in passing as he should with 40 pass attempts per game. However, Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is the last guy to stop Brady and he’s planning on doing it again Sunday.

The Cowboys’ defensive players are more than excited about this game. Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware hinted at an exotic game plan derived by Ryan specifically for Brady. Ware said he wished he could tell the media about it because he’s so pumped about it. When a player that good gets that excited, any opposing team should worry.

That’s why the Cowboys will win this game. There’s really no plausible reason why Dallas should win the game, but it will happen. The Cowboys have an awful taste to remove from their mouths after a heart-breaking 34-30 loss to the Detroit Lions two weeks ago. Dallas had a bye this past week to reflect on that and prepare for New England. Giving Ryan two weeks to prepare for the Patriots is bad news for New England.

Not only is Ryan capable of stopping the Patriots, but he knows that team as well as anybody. He won two Super Bowls as New England’s linebackers coach, so he’s aware of what makes the Patriots go. That’s how he stopped them with a subpar Cleveland Browns defense in 2010 and that’s how he’ll stop them with this Dallas unit now.

Of course, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be under a microscope in this is contest. He is the sole reason why this team is 2-2. Romo was the main factor why the Cowboys beat the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins just like he’s at fault for Dallas’ two losses against the Lions and New York Jets.

Romo will face the league’s worst pass defense on Sunday, giving him a great matchup and opportunity for a big game. All he has to do is limit his mistakes. He doesn’t have to make extreme plays for Dallas to win; Romo simply has to play smart football and throw the ball to his talented receivers, tight ends and running backs.

For whatever reason, I believe Romo will do just that. Again, I think I’m crazy, too, but Romo went through a whole different kind of thrashing from the media after the Detroit game. Since then, he’s vowed to get better and even promised a Super Bowl title for Dallas during his tenure here. We won’t get that carried away, but Romo will play better and that leads us to my prediction: Cowboys 34, Patriots 26.
