The injury bug that plagued the Dallas Cowboys defensive players early this season is back. During the Cowboys’ 34-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, linebacker Sean Lee and cornerback Mike Jenkins suffered injuries that may cause both starters to miss upcoming games.

Lee left the game in the first quarter after hitting his left hand on Eagles quarterback Michael Vick’s helmet during a tackle. An MRI confirmed Lee’s wrist is dislocated, although he will attempt to play Sunday when the Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks. However, Lee’s injury could possibly require surgery, ending his season.

Rookie linebacker Bruce Carter made his pro debut against the Eagles, but will called upon to play a larger role for the remainder of the season, especially if Lee has to undergo surgery.

Jenkins pulled up lame with an obvious hamstring injury while covering Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson on a fly route during the third quarter against Philadelphia. The pulled hamstring could cause Jenkins to miss 3-4 weeks, meaning Orlando Scandrick would start opposite fellow cornerback Terence Newman in the meantime

The Cowboys released second-year cornerback Bryan McCann three weeks ago, so veterans Alan Ball and Frank Walker will also see their roles extended during Jenkins’ absence. The Cowboys’ next two games are at home against the Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, both considered must-wins for Dallas to stay in the NFC playoff race.
