The Dallas Cowboys might be adding a new receiver to the active 53-man roster for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Former fourth-round draft pick Akwasi Owusu-Ansah was cut earlier this season as a safety and has since been converted to a receiver on the practice squad. He might make his offensive NFL debut for the Cowboys this week.

The Cowboys originally planned to bring rookie Dwayne Harris back from the practice squad this week with starter Miles Austin out with a hamstring injury. However, Harris is also nursing a sore hamstring that he suffered at the end of practice on Thursday.

That means Owusu-Ansah could playing offense for the Cowboys Sunday, the first Dallas player to play on each side of the ball since Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Granted, Owusu-Ansah won’t be playing both ways Sunday, but he is now the first to play offense and defense since Sanders nonetheless.

In addition, Owusu-Ansah will probably handle punt and kick return duties if he’s moved up. He did that last year as a rookie. Owusu-Ansah has worn No. 11 in practice since he can’t wear No. 27 anymore now that he’s a receiver.
