The Dallas Cowboys got off to a fast start against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and never looked back. Dallas has blown two big leads this season, which led to a 4-4 record at mid-season. On Sunday, the Cowboys beat the Bills 44-7 after leading 28-7 at halftime. Dallas finally finished a game against a good team after building a big lead early. Maybe it truly was a turning point in the Cowboys’ season.

Dallas could easily be 7-2 this season if it hadn’t been for late-game turnovers by quarterback Tony Romo against the New York Jets and Detroit Lions. On Sunday, Romo recorded the hottest start of the season by any NFL quarterback, completing his first 13 passes, three of them touchdowns, all in the first half.

Romo got rid of the ball quickly, preventing himself from getting sacked in the game. Not only were his passes quick, but they were accurate, on time and to open receivers, also preventing interceptions. Romo’s efficiency obviously made the blowout win possible, but also gave the Cowboys a golden opportunity to start a winning streak heading into the playoff stretch run.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett provided Romo with excellent offensive play-calling after being questioned earlier this week. He allowed Cowboys rookie running back DeMarco Murray to control the pace of the game and fed him the ball in the red zone, leading to no wasted trips for the Cowboys, a first this season.

Dallas finally proved on Sunday it’s more than capable of winning big games against good teams. Now with three straight opponents with losing records next on the schedule, the Cowboys must prove it was no fluke. If Garrett keeps calling plays well and Romo stays efficient, there’s no reason why the Cowboys can’t make a legitimate playoff run this season.
