The Dallas Cowboys’ task of beating the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday just got a little more difficult. The Cowboys were primarily planning for stopping Cardinals running back Beanie Wells, but now receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be more lethal with the return of Arizona starting quarterback Kevin Kolb from a foot injury.

Kolb was recently voted one of the NFL’s 10 most overrated players, but he’s a huge improvement over John Skelton, who led the Cardinals to a 27-26 victory over the Cowboys a year ago.

Skelton’s 3-1 record this season looks much better than Kolb’s 1-6, but both quarterbacks have thrown seven interceptions this season. However, Kolb actually gives the Cardinals a relevant passing game, as he averaged 243 yards per game and threw eight touchdowns before he got hurt.

Kolb allows Fitzgerald to be the elite NFL receiver he is, which is bad news for Dallas. The Cowboys have actually done a decent job of stopping the pass this season, ranking 14th in the NFL as opposed to 26th last season. However, Dallas has no defensive back that can match up with Fitzgerald and Kolb likes to throw the ball to his All-Pro receiver.

This actually makes Wells more dangerous as well now that Dallas will have to pay more attention to Fitzgerald. After rushing for a Cardinals team record 228 yards last week, Wells is hot right now and could cause problems if the Cowboys fall asleep on defense. Like the Cowboys’ 20-19 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving, Sunday’s matchup in Arizona might just be a ball game.
