Dallas Cowboys: 5 Smart Ways to Use All That Salary Cap Room

One of the Cowboys’ lesser areas of absolute need is linebacker. Regardless if Dallas stays with the 3-4 or switches to the 4-3, both Bradie James and Keith Brooking are free agents that won’t be back. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter will be a hot combo in 2012, but there is literally no one behind them. Dallas needs to solidify that depth to ensure a chance to contend.
We’re talking backups with the potential to start, so possibilities here include guys like the San Francisco 49ers’ Ahmad Brooks, the Buffalo Bills’ Andra Davis and the Carolina Panthers’ Dan Connor. All three players played well and were either on the bubble of or in their respective teams’ starting lineups in 2011. All three would be excellent options behind Lee and Carter in a 3-4 and possible starting options in a 4-3. Regardless, the Cowboys have to have somebody there in case something happens to Lee or Carter or even if one of those guys just needs a breather.

Not sure what you were watching when you saw Upshaw play, Alabama plays a 3-4 defense. And Melvin Ingram played in a 2 point stance a lot as well.
