On Thursday Night The Dallas Stars faced the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.  Another good rivalry with the Los Angeles Kings never gets old.

There were lots of shots on goal in the first period.  With less than 6 minutes in the first period, Loui Eriksson would score his 15th goal of the season off of a wrist shot.  Tom Wandell and Brenden Morrow aided out with assists.

Dallas would score again nearly 50 seconds after their first goal.  Eric Nystrom would his 13th goal off of a wrist shot.  Radek Dvorak would generate his 15th assist of the season.

Both teams really did an outstanding job attacking the opposing goaltender with constant shots on net.  Both teams had 16 shots on goal in the first period.  Dallas led 2 to 0 after the first period.  That looked like the key difference through 1 period.

In the second period, Los Angeles got a power play chance.  Anze Kopitar capitalized on the power play putting the Kings back into the contest.  Alex Goligoski scored his 5th goal of the year on a slap shot.  Then Los Angles would score again making it 3 to 2 Dallas through 2 periods.  Los Angeles outshot Dallas 30 to 27 through 2 periods.

The 3rd period was all power play goals.  Jack Johnson and Dustin Brown both executed power play goals that put the Kings up 4 to 3 in the 3rd period after trailing 2 to nothing after one period.  It looked like Dallas would lose before Loui Eriksson tied the game at 4 on a power play goal.

The game would remain 4 to 4 after 3 periods.  Neither team would score in overtime so the game had to go to a shootout.  The Kings went first in the shootout.  They missed their first shot on goal before each goalie made a save.  Then on Dallas’s second scoring chance, Eriksson would light the lamp again scoring a hat trick goal during the shootout.  Trevor Lewis had a chance to continue the game, but Kari Lehtonen made a save in a penalty shootout that cemented the Dallas Stars victory on Thursday Night.
