5 Things I Learned From The Dallas Stars Rematch With The St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues outplayed the Dallas Stars doubling the Stars in two key departments. The Blues were able to double Dallas in face offs won and shots blocked. Winning the face offs enabled the Blues to gain puck control winning time of possession battles. Excellent shot blocking by the Blues defense was one of the elements that helped Halak record a shutout.
The St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars looked pretty even through 2 periods. The Blues got down to business in the third period by abusing Kari Lehtonen with constant scoring chances on net. One of the shots looked like a goal for a split second before the NHL official called it no goal.
Dallas was lucky that this game remained 0 to 0 for such a long period. The Blues outplayed Dallas for a majority of the game with puck control and blocking shots. Halak saved everything that came his way which helped for a Blues shutout.
Heading into the season, I thought the Blues would be one of the NHL's worst teams. After watching the Blues play last night in the rematch against Dallas, they look like a potential candidate for the Western Conference Finals if they play like they did against Dallas on a consistent basis moving forward.
