The Denver Broncos have not had a great player at the quarterback position since John Elway retired—until now.
Tim Tebow is the heir to Elway’s throne and will be the next elite QB to lead them to a Super Bowl victory.
Sure, he’s not a traditional pocket passer like the Hall of Famer was during his time at Mile High, but he knows how to win, and that is all that matters at the end of the day.
Tebow can inspire his teammates with a winning attitude, something that Elway also possessed.
He has proven more than capable of doing whatever it takes to win, even when the odds are against him and the chips are down. Elway could do the same.
The former Florida Gators QB’s ability to engineer game-winning drives is probably his best asset and something that could be called Elway-esque—especially when he does it in a Broncos uniform.
Now that coach John Fox has built an option scheme around his QB and strong RBs, the team has won five straight and six of the last seven. They look like a squad bound for the playoffs after having that dream pronounced dead with Kyle Orton starting.
No QB since Elway has had the city of Denver more excited about the Broncos and their chances of winning than Tebow.
Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton never really got anyone thinking the team would win a Super Bowl while they were under center.
Tebow has inspired a team and a city to believe in him and his teammates. He is the piece they need and someone they need to ensure will be around for years to come, consistently delivering deep playoff runs and eventually a Super Bowl.
The two-time national championship winner is only going to get better as he gets more experience in the NFL and gets more comfortable in the system and at reading defenses.
While Tebow and Elway can’t be compared for their style of play at the QB position, there are definitely similarities in the winning attitudes they bring to Denver.
