Denver Broncos: Safeties to Target in Free Agency
The Denver Broncos just finished up an exciting 2011 season that ended in the AFC divisional round vs. the New England Patriots. The Broncos finished 8-8 in the regular season and won the AFC West division. There are many needs on the Broncos’ roster if they want to keep contending and expand on their 2011 successes.
Here is a look at the safety position, which I think is the Denver Broncos’ 2nd-most need in the off-season:
Thomas DeCoud SS Atlanta Falcons age 26 -
DeCoud has been a consistent and an above-average SS for the Atlanta Falcons over the past 3 seasons. He has averaged around 75 tackles and 3 interceptions each year. In 2011, he racked up 86 tackles and 4 interceptions. DeCoud is someone the Atlanta Falcons are wanting to resign, but they do have other needs that are higher up their list and believe they have a replacement for DeCoud if they cannot manage to sign him. If he hits the open market, I would suggest that the Denver Broncos jump on the chance to sign this youngster.
