The Denver Broncos ranked 22nd in the National Football League against the run last season mostly because of the play by the defensive tackles, and the 322-pound DT Michael Brockers out of LSU has an intriguing mix of size and quickness.

The Broncos have been lacking a force in the middle of the defensive line for several years now, which is a problem that head coach John Fox is not accustomed to. Fox has had several great defensive tackles when he was in Carolina and that turned into a great run defense.

The Broncos have already bolstered their secondary with the signings of FS Mike Adams from Cleveland and CB Tracy Porter from New Orleans, but still may need a young CB/SS in the draft. I still think the most important position to upgrade in the 1st round at this point is the DT position.

Michael Brockers is who the Broncos need to have their eye on and hope that he falls to pick #25.  At 6’5 and 322 pounds he will be a heck of a run stuffer and he should require many double teams that will free up other defenders. In college he was almost always doubled teamed even when facing an All-Conference center like Ben Jones from Georgia. Brockers recorded 54 tackles and 2 sacks in 2011 for LSU in the best conference in football the SEC.

I believe that Brockers will only continue to get better, he will help with the run, and help provide pressure on opposing quarterbacks. If he is not the one getting the sacks he will be taking on double teams and helping others record sacks.
