The Red Wings, having lost out on former Lightning defensemen Pavel Kubina, finally got into the trade season by bringing in former Avalanche defensemen Kyle Quincey. Quincey was originally drafted by Detroit, but played only 7 games in Hockeytown over the course of three seasons. He then spent a year in Los Angeles before finding a home in Colorado for the last three years.
Quincey should bolster the Red Wings depth at the blue line, as well as the currently struggling Detroit power play. Quincey picked up 38 points for the Kings in 2009, proving his has the ability to move the puck.
Detroit gave up their 2012 first round pick and Griffins defensemen Sebastien Piche in the deal.
