Start These Guys and Sit Those Dudes: Week 7

Usually I begin these posts by bragging a bit about my previous week’s picks, but this week I’m going to let my picks speak for themselves.  I will give you a little quick advice- pick up Tony Moeaki, and drop Brandon Jackson. Just do it.

Start these guys

Terrell Owens
Facing the Atlanta Falcons defense without Dunta Robinson, T.O. should easily keep up with his standard of double-digit fantasy games. So far, Ochocinco and T.O. seem to be gelling, but T.O. continues to excel at catching the deep ball. They are like the modern Randy Moss and Wes Welker combo. Remember the good old days?

Jeremy Maclin
If you skipped ahead and saw that I recommended sitting Vick and Kolb, you may be confused about why I’m recommending Maclin. I do acknowledge that there is something to be said for a consistent quarterback, but Maclin looked great last week when DeSean Jackson went down with a concussion. To make Maclin’s case even better, he will be facing the Titans who aren’t exactly known for their secondary.

Matt Forte
Did you know that Matt Forte is in the Top 5 fantasy running backs?  Well, now you do. The reason you might not have known is because he is so inconsistent.  He can go from a 2-point game to a 30-point game. Last week was an 11-point game, so maybe he can balance it out and have somewhere around a 21-point game. Here’s to hoping.

Tony Moeaki
If you have noticed, I always recommend starting any wide receiver who is playing the Jacksonville Jaguars. This week, the obvious pick would be Dwayne Bowe. However, Tony Moeaki is my pick. Moeaki has become one of Cassel’s favorite targets.  Before last game, Moeaki was averaging 4 catches a game and was also getting a lot of looks. Currently he has just 2 TDs, but this rookie has the potential to get 2 more this weekend.

Patrick Crayton
In a premier passing offense like the San Diego Chargers’, you would have to assume that even though Malcom Floyd and Antonio Gates are out with injuries the Chargers can still put up fantasy numbers.  After week One, I would have picked Legedu Naanee, but with the addition of Patrick Crayton, he is now my best pick. The timing is perfect for Crayton–all the starters are injured and against the Patriots’ spotty secondary, this is Crayton’s last chance to be a fantasy stud.

Sit these dudes

Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb
Though you may have seen the “questionable” indicator turn to a “probable” for Vick this week, this doesn’t mean he is a must start. The confusing part is that the Eagles have named Kolb as the starter, but you have got to assume that if Vick is dressing, then he will see some action. My guess is if Kolb turns the ball over, Vick is in. I don’t want to share my fantasy points with anyone, so why don’t you pick up another starting QB that will play the whole 60 minutes.

Brandon Jackson
It happens every year. The starting running back gets put on IR and the backup is thrust into the starting role. They usually go on to be a great fantasy pickup, but occasionally, things go horribly wrong. Such is the story of Brandon Jackson. The Vikings will have no trouble shutting him down. Two words: Williams Wall.

Mike Sims-Walker
He began the season on everyone’s sleeper list, but he still hasn’t woken up yet. Even worse is that David Garrard has been ruled out for this week and Todd Bouman will get the start. It’s hard to imagine Sims-Walker’s numbers going down further, but they probably will.

Fred Jacskon
Though he finally became the starter after Lynch went to Seattle, Jackson will have his work cut out for him against the Ravens’ defense this week. If anything, C.J. Spiller would be more useful. The Ravens do give up big plays occasionally. But, Jackson isn’t the Bills’ big play guy–that’s what Spiller is for.

Chad Henne
Chad Henne has been going all CHADDDD HENNEEEEEE the past few weeks with a combined total of 49 fantasy points in 3 games. Don’t expect much out of Henne against the Steelers’ defense, though.
