2011 FANTASY QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

I am ranking the top 15 quarterbacks in the league, seeing as most drafts have 12 teams or less…unless you’re in a man’s league. For that, you need more than just rankings, you need to know back-ups as well. Do your research regardless. This is just a guide.

(1)  Aaron Rodgers

The Packer signal caller is primed and ready for another outstanding season of prolonged dominance at the top spot in my rankings.

(2) Phil Rivers

Maybe the most despised player in football not named T.O. or Moss…Phil will give you 4,700+ yards passing and 30+ TD’s. Who can hate that?

(3) Mike Vick

The most versatile QB the NFL has seen since Randall Cunningham. Vick’s running + throwing ability makes him too valuable to pass up.

(4) Tom Brady

With the addition of Ochocinco, Brady and the Pats are once again loaded offensively. Tom has a variety of RB, WR and TE’s to choose from in ’11.

(5) Drew Brees

He no longer has Reggie Bush to dump the ball off to out of the backfield. However, he has the same Sean Payton offensive scheme and most of his weapons from last season, including rookie Mark Ingram.

(6) Peyton Manning

This is being ranked low on the list for Peyton. With the off-season neck surgery, toppled with the contract talks, I feel Manning will not be himself for the first few weeks of the season…In turn, leading to one of his worst offensive seasons in recent memory.

(7) Tony Romo

If healthy, with the weapons the Cowboys possess, this signal caller is in for the biggest NFL campaign of his career. Hello, Mr. Dez Bryant & Felix Jones.

(8) Matt Schaub

I can’t help but love the offense Houston runs and the players they have running it. Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels and Arian Foster make for a three-headed monster that will only help Schaub throughout the grind of an NFL season. Expect Houston to make a playoff appearance this season, as well.

(9) Ben Roethlisberger

He has a slowing down Hines Ward, but a blossoming Mike Wallace, Rashard Mendenhall and Emmanuel Sanders who are ready to take the keys to the car. His receiving core in Pittsburgh is as fast and explosive offensively as it’s ever been since Big Ben has been a Steeler.

(10) Matt Ryan

Adding a top draft pick like stud WR Julio Jones from Alabama, alongside a top NFL WR in Roddy White, a top TE in Tony Gonzalez and a top RB in Michael Turner is going to make for some offensive madness in Hot Lanta this season. Ryan has averaged 6.5 yards per completion over the last two seasons, but I see that number rising significantly in 2011.

(11) Eli Manning

Even though his 25 interceptions last season left a sour taste in most owners mouths, you can’t knock or deny Eli’s ability to get his receivers the ball, while scoring tons of fantasy points along the way. He will fumble and throw the ball to the other team no doubt, but his offense is just too good to ignore. It’s always high risk, high reward with this Manning brother. However, with the losses of some key offensive lineman, look for Eli to be a bit more uncomfortable in the pocket in 2011, causing a few more INT’s.

(12) Joe Flacco

If you read my sleeper picks article, you’d already know I have Joe atop my list. I don’t know why people are so down on the 26-year-old this year. He has a wealth of talent around him, including Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin. His strong arm will catapult him into fantasy stardom this year.

(13) Jay Cutler

I know, I know…A ton of experts and fans will disagree with me here. However, there is no denying Cutler’s arm strength. Alongside a Mike Martz led offensive game plan, plus four burners for wide receivers with the addition of Roy Williams this off-season and a top notch receiving running back like Matt Forte, the gun slinger is primed for a Pro Bowl caliber season. If he can stay on the field…which is asking for a lot, he and the Bears offense will be stellar.

(14) Sam Bradford

I will admit, I didn’t buy into Sam as he entered the league last year. I thought he was a product of his Oklahoma offense in college. He proved me and a lot of others wrong immediately. He has a variety of young, receiving weapons that fly around on that turf in St. Louis. Don’t forget Steven Jackson is still looming in the backfield, giving Bradford one of the most young and exciting teams in the NFL, come 2011.

(15) Kevin Kolb

I had to do it. He just slips in my top 15 because of the situation he walked into in Arizona. Not only does he have the best WR in the game catching passes for him in Larry Fitzgerald, but Kolb will be able to open it up in a similar offense to the one he ran in Philadelphia. As long as the pressure is kept off him by his offensive line, there is no reason Kolb shouldn’t throw for 4,000 yards and 25+ TD’s this season.

Just Missed The List….Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, Matt Cassel, Kyle Orton and Donovan McNabb.
