Coming into the season, Josh Freeman was poised for a breakout fantasy season. So far this season he has done nothing to impress us. Through 5 games he has a 1,156 yards with 3 TD’s and 6 INT’s,compared to 1,043 yards with 6 TD’s and 3 INT’slast season through the first 5 games. The yardage numbers are there but come on! I want a fantasy QB who is going to sit in the pocket, pick apart the defense. He can be that guy, but we all know QB’s who are run first, never put up great fantasy numbers. So who is to blame? Could it be Mike Williams? Who has about as much trouble shedding coverage as Jamarcus Russel has shedding weight, or Kellen Winslow who doesn’t look like the “soldier” he used to be. Or is it freeman?
This guy has the pure athletic ability to be a top QB in the league someday. But when will it be? With the way he finished off the year last year(1,009 yds,9 TD’s, 0 INT over last 4 games) you had to be ecstatic. Is he the next Mcnabb or the next grossman(who looks like he entered the nathan’s hot dog eating contest and won) Over the next 4 games Freeman has the Saints,Bears,Saints,Houston which are 4 very beatable defenses. Will we see the Freeman who had 474 yards and 3 TD’s and 0 INT’s against the Saints last year, or the Freeman who threw 187 yards and 2 picks against the 49ers. If he doesn’t show signs of improvement this week, its time to cut the cord and look elsewhere. This has become a passing league and you can’t let your QB bring your fantasy team down. So I ask will the real Josh Freeman, Please stand up?
