Week 16 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire
By Adam McGill
With the All-Star break all wrapped up; it is now time to get back to fantasy hockey. Below is my latest compilation of free agents to pick up before your competition does:
Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues
C Cody Hodgson, VAN – “Hodgy” has racked up 5 points in the last six games, quickly bringing his total up to 30 on the season.
LW Jiri Hurdler, DET – Hurdler finished January with 10 points (7 goals and 3 assists) and it is never too bad to have a guy from Detroit on your fantasy roster.
RW Kyle Okposo, NYI – Few wingers played as well as Okposo did in the last month, as he totaled 14 points in the last 15 games.
D John Michael Liles, TOR – JML is also getting more minutes in Toronto’s top lines, as he has produced 10 points in his last 15 games.
G Scott Clemmensen, FLA – Clemmensen has only lost 1 game in his last seven starts and is finally getting more time between the pipes in Florida.
Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues
C Sam Ganger, EDM – Ganger had 7 points in January, including 6 helpers in that span.
LW Nikolai Kulemin, TOR – The kid from USSR has assisted on 5 goals in the last three games alone. He is getting more ice time with the Maple Leafs’ injury concerns, so owners’ should expect more points.
RW Derek Dorsett, COL – “Double D” is getting a lot of attention in Ohio, so the kid will get plenty of ice time to keep the people happy.
D Christian Ehrhoff, BUF – Ehrhoff is finally healthy after missing a month with a rib injury. He looks very comfortable since returning, as has 2 points in his first three games back.
G Thomas Greiss, SJ – “Greissy” will be the new starter in San Jose, with starter Antti Niemi doing down in practice with an injury. Greiss is 3-0-1 in his last four starts and has only allowed 5 goals in his last 12 periods of regulation play.
