Fantasy Golf Rankings for World Golf Championships
By Adam McGill
With all the excitement that the Northern Trust Open had last weekend, the World Championships could not have come at a better time. The tourney will feature the best players in the sport and will be one of the most watched events of the year. Below are my top-ten golfers for the first round of the WGC:
1. Luke Donald, ENG – The “Don” is still the best golfer in the world and will once again showcase his talent this week in the desert.
2. Lee Westwood, ENG – The Englishmen is the number one ranked golfer in the Sam Snead Bracket, but still has a very tough road ahead of him.
3. Rory McIlroy, NIR – The 22-year old is averaging 68.7 strokes per round in 2012 and will be the guy everyone comes to watch.
4. Adam Scott, AUS – Scott is one of the most consistent players off the tees and will challenge for the tourney lead until Sunday.
5. Bill Haas, USA – Haas is coming off one of the biggest wins of his young career and will be a golfer to keep an eye on this week.
6. Martin Kaymer, DEU – The German went 11 under at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the pride of Western Germany always finds a way to get out of the thicket.
7. Jason Day, AUS – Day averaged a 73.3 in his only tournament on the year, but will have a much better average per round for the WGC.
8. K. J. Choi, KOR – The “Korean Krusher” has steadily improved in recent years and has really jumped to the top of international play.
9. Keegan Bradley, USA – Bradley looked phenomenal last week at the N.T.O. and is finally getting the attention he deserves.
10. Tiger Woods, USA – Woods is still being undervalued, despite hanging with the front-runners for the majority of last weekend.
