Week 20 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire

By Adam McGill

The fantasy hockey season is near the end of the regular season, making free agent pickups more and more important.  Here is my latest compilation of free agent guys to grab before your competition:

Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues

C Danny Briere, PHI – The “kid” is back skating with the Flyers and is a fantasy steal right now on the waiver wire.

LW Pascal Dupuis, PIT – The Frenchman has 5 game winning goals this season and always seems to be around the puck.

RW Steve Downie, COL – Downie has been one of the biggest free agent pickups of the week with 7 points in his last four games.

D Andrej Meszaros, PHI – “Meszo” has been unstoppable in the last nine games with 7 total points;  1 goal and 6 assists.

G Robin Lehner, OTT – Lehner has been very strong so far with a 2-1 record and only 4 goals against in his last three starts.

Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues

C Martin Hanzel, PHO – Hanzel continues to dish the puck with 6 helpers in his last five games.

LW James van Riemsdyk, PHI – Riemsdyk has 24 points on the year (11 goals and 13 assists) and will be a steady source of points in the Flyers’ high-flying offense.

RW – Drew Stafford, BUF – “Staffy” has been huge during the Sabs’ hot streak with 6 points in the team’s last seven games.

D Tyler Myers, BUF –Myers stands at a staggering 6-foot-8 and the defender has blossomed into a great scoring threat from behind the blue-line.

G Josh Harding, MIN – Harding will be between the pipes for the next month, as former starter Niklas Backstrom recovers from a groin injury.
