Fantasy Golf Rankings for the Wells Fargo Championship
Allan Henry-US PRESSWIRE

The Wells Fargo Championship will have a true championship feel to it as the event hosts some of the best golfers in the world.  Below are my top fantasy rankings for the WFG this weekend:

1. Rory McIlroy – McIlroy looking to show he deserves the number one ranking in the world.

2. Phil Mickelson – “Lefty” has combined to go 21 under each of his last two Wells Fargo Championships and is expected to put together a similar strong performance down in North Carolina.

3. Tiger Woods – Woods won the event in 2007 and will certainly benefit from the couple weeks of rest.

4.  Zach Johnson – Johnson finished 9 under last weekend and remains the best all-around putter on the tour.

5. Keegan Bradley – Bradley missed the cut last time around at the WFC, but the kid has been swinging with much more confidence in recent weeks.

6. Lee Westwood – Westwood has shot at least five under in each of his last four PGA appearances.

7. Lucas Glover – Glover won the event at 15 under last year, just beating out Jonathan Bryd on the courses’ long hole 18 during a playoff round.  Glover is a strong start again this weekend and should fall to the end of the first round in weekly leagues.

8. Jonathan Byrd – The “Birdman” loves the Quail Hollow course and will be flying high this weekend.

9. Jason Day – “JayDee” was playing outstanding at the Masters before having to leave with an ankle injury.  He looks to be healthy for this event and should get heavy fantasy consideration, as the 24-year old finally appears ready to break out.

10. Jim Furyk – “Ferocious Furyk” is another past winner of the event (2006) and will be an outstanding sleeper this weekend.
