Week 5 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Small Leagues
Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE

With the fifth week of the fantasy baseball season upon us, free agents picks are as important as ever.  Below are my week five free agent pickups for small fantasy leagues:

Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues:

C Yadier Molina, STL  – Molina remains one of the hottest hitting catchers in the game with a robust .318 batting average.

1B Adam LaRoche, WAS – LaRoche is having a career year in the nation’s capital with a phenomenal .311 batting average and a .392 OBP. He is hitting everything in sight and is on pace to shatter his career high 100 RBI.

2B Jason Kipnis, CLE – “Kippy” has really picked up since being moved into the two-hole. He has racked up 7 RBI in his last eight games and is finally becoming fantasy relevant.

3B Edwin Encarnacion , TOR – “Eazy E” is having a career year and has homered in four consecutive contests. He is unlikely to continue this power surge, but fantasy owners should have him in their lineups while he is tearing the hide off the ball.

SS Zack Cozart, CIN – Cozart became a household name last week following another one of his amazing WebGems on Baseball Tonight. The 26-year old is really coming around with his bat and has surprisingly out-produced the majority of the position in fantasy points.

OF Dexter Fowler, COL – The speedster has shown some unusual pop this season with 4 homers already. He will always get a solid number of stolen bases, so the added power makes him a low-end fantasy starter.

0F Gerardo Parra, ARI – Parra continues to impress with Chris Young on the shelf, and the centerfielder has drove in 9 runs and stole 5 bases in the last ten games.

SP Tommy Milone, OAK – The 25-year old has an outstanding 1.01 WHIP this season and the youngster has really made a name for himself. He may be coming off a 7-run debacle, but the kid has shown enough in his four other starts to warrant roster consideration.

SP James McDonald, PIT – McDonald has struckout 18 batters in his last two outings and the 27-year old is becoming one of the Bucos’ best pitchers.

RP Alfredo Aceves, BOS – Aceves has really come along after a rocky start, as he has pitched four consecutive scoreless innings since his 5-run collapse against the Yanks earlier this month. Aceves has some of the best run-support in the game with the Boston bats and is finally looking like a fantasy worthy closer.
