The season is getting closer and I am ready to see how my 2012 fantasy football team turns out. I know injuries, sleepers, breakout players, and great free agent pick ups mean everything in fantasy sports, but having a nice starting line up and plenty of depth to start the season help a lot also. Here is a look at my projected starting line up and a few reasons why I think I will have a successful season:
QB – Drew Brees
RB – Chris Johnson
RB – Trent Richardson
WR – Brandon Marshall
WR – Dez Bryant
TE – Jermichael Finley
DEF – Texans
K – Garret Hartley
FLEX – Roy Helu
DEPTH – Jake Locker, Ben Tate, Kenny Britt, Sidney Rice, Michael Floyd, Jared Cook
I feel that I have a for sure top 4 QB in Brees and a chance for the #1 fantasy player in the league.
In a non-PPR league, you need backs that get a load every week, can gain yardage through the air, and get the goal line carries. I feel that with Johnson and Richardson, I have exactly that. Helu is more of a PPR guy, but if the Redskins decide to give him around 15 carries a game and continue to throw to him the way they did last year then 1,500 total yards and 8 touchdowns could be a possibility. Tate could put up over 1,000 total yards and 8 touchdowns as a backup to Arian Foster, but if Foster was to miss a few games Tate could be a huge steal.
I think that all my WRs have the opportunity to have huge seasons. They are all big red zone targets and guys that can put up big yardage and 10+ touchdowns. Hopefully the Cutler to Marshall hook up will be as good as it was in Denver a few years back and Dez and Britt can get on the field and stay on it… Sidney Rice will benefit from Matt Flynn the new QB in Seattle. Floyd is a sleeper that will benefit playing on opposite sides of the field than Larry Fitzgerald.
Overall I think this team has a great chance to compete with the top teams and if a few things go our way we may can bring home the championship.
