2012 Fantasy Football 3 Round Mock Draft

The 2012 Fantasy Football drafts have started and there will be many more from now until September. Here is a look at how I think the first 3 rounds of a PPR league draft will go. This league rewards running backs, receivers, and tight ends a point per catch and all touchdowns are 6 points.

1st Round – Picks 1-10

1. Arian Foster

2. Lesean McCoy

3. Ray Rice

4. Maurice Jones-Drew

5. Aaron Rodgers

6. Tom Brady

7. Drew Brees

8. Calvin Johnson

9. Matthew Stafford

10. Chris Johnson

2nd Round – Picks 11-20

11. Wes Welker

12. Ryan Matthews

13. Darren Mcfadden

14. Roddy White

15. Larry Fitzgerald

16. Marshawn Lynch

17. Cam Newton

18. Matt Forte

19. Andre Johnson

20. Rob Gronkowski

3rd Round – Picks 21-30

21. Greg Jennings

22. Jimmy Graham

23. AJ Green

24. Demarco Murray

25. Jamaal Charles

26. Jordy Nelson

27. Hakeem Nicks

28. Brandon Marshall

29.  Dez Bryant

30. Mike Wallace

These players were also considered when thinking about the first three rounds: Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Michael Vick, Tony Romo, Phillip Rivers, Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson, Roy Helu, Darren Sproles, Julio Jones, Victor Cruz, Percy Harvin, and Steve Smith.

I would wait till round 4 or after for a QB if I didn’t land one of those first round QBs and missed Newton in the 2nd or 3rd round. Richardson would easily be a top 3 round pick, but because of the fact that the passing game may struggle and he will face the stingy defenses of the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals twice each I would want to draft him as my 2nd back in round 4 or 5. Cruz is a guy that should be considered in the first 3 rounds as long as he could match his numbers from last year, but I’ll say that is not likely. Nicks is the main man in New York and Cruz had several TDs over 50+ yards….again those numbers are not likely again. I would try to get him as a 2nd WR which would be a steal in round 4 or 5.

The TEs that I like after the top two are: Aaron Hernandez, Vernon Davis, and I think Antonio Gates will bounce back to his old self this season. Some late round guys with big potential are: Jacob Tamme, Jared Cook, Fred Davis, and Jermaine Greshem.

Good Luck drafting.
