2012 Fantasy Football Big Board: Ranking Top 50 Players After Week 4

1 of 15

The fantasy football season is about a fourth of the way over, and we are starting to get a sense of who has been one-week wonders, and who will be legitimate fantasy options throughout the year.

One of the biggest surprises so far is the quarterback position has been completely turned on its head. What was thought to be the elite group of fantasy options (Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford) have been disappointments so far, and some of the younger talent is stepping up in a big way. A few of those young guys have climbed all the way to the top 10 of my big board.

One of the toughest things to figure out when compiling a list like this is not overreacting too much to results, but most of the time you just cannot ignore what a player is accomplishing. Sometimes guys do not find the end zone for a couple of weeks, but still rack up the yards. I tried not to overreact and move these players too far down the rankings.

There were several new additions to the top 50, and be sure to comment below if you feel I left anyone out that doesn't deserve it.

10. Mike Wallace (22)

Cary Edmondson-US PRESSWIRE

Mike Wallace is showing no signs of being affected by his holdout and is racking up both yards and touchdowns. The Pittsburgh Steelers do not have much of a run game to speak of, and have had to rely on Ben Roethlisberger and his weapons to move the ball. This will only help Wallace.

7 of 15

9. Eli Manning (15)

Eli Manning

Eli Manning had one of the best fantasy days ever by a quarterback in Week 2, but has been pretty good in the other two games as well. He has a ton of weapons and hasn't even had Hakeem Nicks healthy the entire season.

8 of 15

8. A.J. Green (16)

A.J. Green has all the tools to be one of the best wide receivers in the league, and the explosion he had against the Washington Redskins this past weekend is evidence of that.

9 of 15

7. Matt Ryan (29)

Matt Ryan is playing lights out football right now and the Atlanta Falcons are absolutely rolling offensively. They are the best offense in football after three weeks, regardless of what the stats might say.

10 of 15

6. Robert Griffin III (18)

Robert Griffin has been everything he was advertised to be and then some. His rushing stats (203 yards, three touchdowns) are enough to put him in the top 15 among runningbacks alone, let alone quarterbacks. I'm wondering how long it will take for the NFL defenses to figure him out, but until then he'll be a beast in fantasy.

11 of 15

5. Calvin Johnson (7)

Cary Edmondson-US PRESSWIRE

Calvin Johnson is an absolute monster and reinforced that with a big game this weekend.

12 of 15

4. LeSean McCoy (3)

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE

LeSean McCoy is not finding the end zone as much as he did in 2011, but that could come if the Philadelphia Eagles figure out their turnover issues. He still racks up the yards, so he's not a disappointment, yet.

13 of 15

3. C.J. Spiller (10)

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

C.J. Spiller is easily the biggest surprise of the NFL season thus far. He's dominating opponents right now and taking full advantage of his opportunity that arose with Fred Jackson's injury.

14 of 15

2. Ray Rice (2)

It is hard to separate the top two players from each other, but if you took Ray Rice with your top two or three pick, you've been satisfied thus far.

15 of 15

1. Arian Foster (1)

The Houston Texans run the ball a ton, so it's easy to overlook the points Ben Tate is stealing from Arian Foster since Foster still racks up the points every game.

Every week I take what’s happened in the NFL season thus far and put together this big board of the top 50 fantasy football players. This list is not just based on 2012 production so far, but takes both 2012 production and overall player talent into consideration. Feel free to comment below if you feel like I made any egregious errors.
