Fantasy NASCAR Conclusions: Martinsville
The Chase continues to wind down as round seven shifts gears to Martinsville Speedway.
Perhaps, this is the easiest lineup to set for owners, as fans know who the heavy-hitters will be: Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Denny Hamlin. There is a combined 17 wins between these three, which means owners are licking their chops. Did the trend of dominance continue?
Survey says…yes. Johnson held off a hard-charging Kyle Busch for a seventh Grandfather clock. He led a race-high 192 laps. For that, he was the MVP in Fantasy NASCAR. Many owners certainly benefited from this.
Fantasy NASCAR Point Total: 167
The usual suspects continue. Gordon had the dominant car early in the race, leading 92 laps. But late cautions cost him, as he was pinned on the outside. Gordon finished seventh.
Fantasy NASCAR Point Total: 135.5
The dark horse of the Chase continues to demonstrate that he won’t give in. Bowyer led the second most laps on the day (150). He had one of the cars that could contend with the Hendrick duo of Johnson and Gordon. Bowyer finished fifth.
Fantasy NASCAR Point Total: 126
In every opportunity Vickers has gotten this year, he has fulfilled, and maybe even exceeded expectations. It may be forgotten that he led 27 laps of his own, despite the focus of domination with the three other drivers. Vickers finished eighth.
Fantasy NASCAR Point Total: 54
After his breakout performance was stymied last Sunday at Kansas Motor Speedway, Almirola bounced back with a top five. It appears that he learned how to practice amnesia. An atta’ boy goes to him.
Fantasy NASCAR Point Total: 51.5
