There were many questions about Calvin Johnson’s status for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The matchup was perfect, as Jacksonville was in the bottom quarter of teams in pass defense. However, the nagging knee injury was not perfect. Sunday morning, it was declared Johnson was active, and fantasy owners took a big sigh of relief.

Even after the last 2 weeks of only hauling in 3 catches, Johnson’s upside still makes him a must start. Johnson rewarded his patient owners with another huge yardage week. Johnson pulled in 7 receptions for 129 yards. Owners squirmed as they saw him come up one yard short of a touchdown on a 38 yard reception.

Unfortunately, Mikel Leshoure dominated the scoring column with 3 rushing touchdowns. It has been perplexing as to the steep decline in touchdowns this year for Megatron. Coming off of a 2011 campaign with 16 touchdowns, some would say that the “Madden Curse” has struck again. He has only caught 1 touchdown thus far. Luckily for Johnson owners, he is still posting huge yardage numbers. With a bum knee, Johnson has 4 games with over 110 yards receiving. Titus Young took a back seat as Johnson reestablished his dominance in the passing game.

Going forward, Johnson will most likely remain questionable all week until Sunday. Lesson learned for those of you who benched him this week, good things come to those who wait. It seems unlikely that he will keep up this touchdown drought.
