There are some times where no matter who you play in fantasy football, your opponent has the one player that puts up one of the greatest performances in history and you have no chance at all of winning. One of those situations came up on Sunday with Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin. Martin ran for 251 yards and was at 264 before some late runs for losses, with four touchdowns. Also, let’s not forget he had four catches as well in the game.
There are not too many other performances that match up with what Martin did on Sunday afternoon in Oakland. There is the game two years ago where Michael Vick had six touchdowns and over 380 yards of total offense and there was also a game by Shaun Alexander where Alexander scored five touchdowns in just the first half. There is no doubt that games like what Martin had on Sunday are few and very far between. Martin’s owners were probably taunting their way to the bank on Sunday night especially if they had coupled Martin’s game with Adrian Peterson’s monster game in Seattle.
For those who have Martin, this is your time to do a victory lap after two straight monster games and how you drafted him. Any Martin owner should be proud of themselves for making that move and picking a rookie in the middle rounds of the drafts. The rest of us who don’t have Martin on our teams will just have to hope to not see another game like that out of anyone else the rest of the season.
