Fantasy Football Top Players of Week 11

Top
David Butler II-US PRESSWIRE

Ideally, the best fantasy football rosters win by having great overall contributions from every player on the roster. When some players struggle to score near their projected totals, players that exceed expectations and have great outputs help balance out a team’s lower scorers. To win on a frequent basis, top performances are what fuel teams to the top of their respective leagues’ standings.

In Week 11, there were many players who would fit the statements of overachiever and high-scorers. The top performers of this week range from elite options with favorable matchups to the unlikely sources of production. If owners have one or more of the players on this list, they typically put themselves in a great position to win their matchup.

Week 11 provided plenty of scoring opportunities. In total, eight teams scored at least 28 points, meaning there were plenty of touchdowns to go around for quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. This week, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck threw for over 330 passing yards, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin had over 160 total yards and San Diego Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander had his second-straight big fantasy performance consisting of 96 yards and two touchdowns, yet none of these players make the list as Week 11 fantasy leaders. Here’s a look at the best of the best from this week in the NFL.

QB Matt Schaub, Houston Texans

Schaub
Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub – 39.08 points (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 74% owned)

Week 11 statistics: 527 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions

The Jaguars’ outburst on offense contributed to Schaub’s career day where he completed 43-of 55 passes for the win. With Arian Foster having a tougher day on the ground, he connected with nine different receivers and had an excellent bounce back performance after putting up a dud last week against the Chicago Bears.

Honorable mentions: Washington Redskins’ Robert Griffin III (vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 98% owned, 32.40 points), Jaguars’ Chad Henne (at Texans, 2% owned, 30.86 points), New England Patriots’ Tom Brady (vs. Colts, 100% owned, 25.24 points)

RB Marcel Reece, Oakland Raiders & LaRod Stephens-Howling, Arizona Cardinals

Reece
Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

Oakland Raiders RB Marcel Reece – 19.30 points (vs. New Orleans Saints, 66% owned)

Arizona Cardinals RB LaRod Stephens-Howling – 19.30 points (at Atlanta Falcons, 47% owned)

Reece’s Week 11 statistics: 103 rushing yards, 90 receiving yards

Stephens-Howling’s Week 11 statistics: 127 rushing yards, 6 receiving yards, 1 touchdown

Reece served as the primary weapon on offense for the Raiders and surely benefited with the absence of Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson. Stephens-Howling had a great outing against a struggling Falcons run defense but will likely return to a backup role with Beanie Wells likely returning in Week 12.

Honorable mentions: New York Jets’ Bilal Powell (at St. Louis Rams, 2% owned, 18.00 points), Cincinnati Bengals’ BenJarvus Green-Ellis (at Kansas City Chiefs, 90% owned, 16.80 points)

4 of 7

WR Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

Johnson
Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE

Texans WR Andre Johnson – 33.30 points (vs. Jaguars, 99% owned)

Week 11 statistics: 273 receiving yards, 1 touchdown

Johnson was the biggest benefactor from Schaub’s big game, as he caught 14 of the 19 passes thrown his way for an unbelievable showing in Week 11. Aside from scoring the game-winning 48-yard touchdown, he had a field day tearing into the Jaguars defense and contributing to the team’s success all game long.

Honorable mentions: Jaguars’ Justin Blackmon (at Texans, 24% owned, 29.60 points), Patriots’ Julian Edelman (vs. Colts, 3% owned, 22.50 points), Colts’ T.Y. Hilton (at Patriots, 23% owned, 22.00 points)

5 of 7

TE Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots

Gronkowski
Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski – 25.70 points (vs. Colts, 100% owned)

Week 11 statistics: 137 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

With Aaron Hernandez out, Gronkowski was Brady’s top tight end option and produced huge numbers for the third time in the past four weeks. Unfortunately for his owners, he’ll be out for the next four to six week as he underwent surgery to repair his broken forearm, potentially ending his production for the rest of the fantasy football season.

Honorable mentions: Texans’ Garrett Graham (vs. Jaguars, 1% owned, 20.20 points), Cleveland Browns’ Benjamin Watson (at Dallas Cowboys, 1% owned, 16.70 points), Jaguars’ Marcedes Lewis (at Texans, 7% owned, 16.00 points)

6 of 7

K Josh Scobee, Jacksonville Jaguars

Scobee
Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE

Jaguars K Josh Scobee – 15.00 points (at Texans, 2% owned)

Week 11 statistics: 3-for-3 field goals (43, 40, 33), 4 extra points made

As with the rest of nearly every offensive player in the Jaguars-Texans game, Scobee had a season-best performance in Week 11 with 13 points scored. While this outbreak was definitely a surprise, the Jaguars offense will have a tough time maintain this level of productivity, making him a poor option moving forward.

Honorable mentions: Cardinals’ Jay Feely (at Falcons, 2% owned, 14.00 points), Falcons’ Matt Bryant (vs. Cardinals, 95% owned, 14.00 points), Buffalo Bills’ Rian Lindell (vs. Miami Dolphins, 3% owned, 14.00 points), Texans’ Shayne Graham (vs. Jaguars, 41% owned, 14.00 points)

7 of 7

New England Patriots team defense

Patriots
Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE

Patriots team defense – 27.00 points (vs. Colts, 80% owned)

Week 11 statistics: 24 points allowed, 1 sack, 3 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 2 defensive touchdowns, 1 return touchdown

From newcomer Aqib Talib’s interception return for a touchdown to Alfonzo Dennard’s pick-six of Luck, the Patriots team defense was dominant in a rout of the Colts. The Patriots also benefited from a big special teams play on a 68-yard punt return touchdown by Edelman.

Honorable mentions: Green Bay Packers team defense (at Detroit Lions, 83% owned, 20.00 points), Baltimore Ravens team defense (at Pittsburgh Steelers, 91% owned, 19.00 points), Redskins team defense (vs. Eagles, 18% owned, 17.00 points)
