Fantasy Football: Week 11 Fantasy Failures

1 of 6

Who Failed This Week?

Week 11 of the NFL season is now in the books and fantasy owners now try to plan quickly before Week 12 begins with three games on Thanksgiving Day. There are many owners who will look back at Week 11 and wish they had played or didn’t have to play against Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson, who put up numbers that are only a fantasy or in a video game.

However, I’m here to talk more about the failures of Week 11 and there are definitely a few of those out there. There are five that stand out more than the others to me that I will get to in a moment or two but there are plenty to go around. You can mention Matthew Stafford, who threw for 266 yards but threw two interceptions and completed just 17 passes. There is Ryan Fitzpatrick last Thursday night who was just as bad as Stafford was with only 168 passing yards. The biggest three failures on this list before my top five would be Dwayne Bowe and Jeremy Maclin, who both finished with no catches along with Rashad Jennings, who had three carries for -1 yard. There is no doubt owners who had any or all of those three starting are hurting now.

Here are my top five failures from Week 11 with owners hoping that all five of these players bounce back very quickly this week or their playoff chances are going to go out the window in very short order….

Matt Ryan

Daniel Shirey-US PRESSWIRE

Ryan had a day that could be looked at as good with over 300 yards passing but Ryan threw five interceptions against the Cardinals, which is a failure in my opinion. Atlanta did win so Ryan’s picks didn’t hurt as bad but it just can’t continue. The Falcons face a Tampa Bay team that has given up the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season so it is likely Ryan bounces back this week but keep a very close eye on him the rest of the way to see if the interception game continues and derails your title chances before they really start.

Reggie Bush

Bush was an epic failure last Thursday night with just 20 rushing yards on ten carries along with two catches for 15 yards against a soft Buffalo defense. There are a lot of owners like myself who have Bush on the bench this week as the Dolphins face Seattle at home, who rank in the top five against running backs this season. It is also important to notice that Bush is losing carries to Daniel Thomas as well and that just lessens his value even more than it already is at this point. It is getting very close to seeing Bush on the waiver wire in fantasy football.

Nick Foles

Foles had a very rough first NFL start, throwing for just 204 yards with two interceptions. Foles also fumbled the ball three times but got on top of each one. You can expect Foles to keep starting for the Eagles until Michael Vick is ready to go or if the decision is made to keep Foles in there because the season is lost in Philadelphia. Foles needs to play better and he will get a chance to do that Monday night against Carolina who is in the middle for points given up to quarterbacks. If that don’t happen, owners are going to be looking for yet another replacement.

5 of 6

Denarius Moore

Moore had just one catch for nine yards and even lost five yards on a carry to make his day even worse for the Raiders against a poor New Orleans defense. Moore was targeted seven times by Carson Palmer so it wasn’t that he was forgotten, it is more the fact that Moore didn’t make the plays that he needed to. This week’s matchup isn’t any easier with Cincinnati and their much better than New Orleans defense coming to town. However, Moore is still the top receiver for Oakland so it is probable that he rebounds this week. It was just lousy this past week.

Larry Fitzgerald

Daniel Shirey-US PRESSWIRE

Fitzgerald had one of the worst games of his whole career with just one catch for 11 yards as the Cardinals lost to the Falcons. Fitzgerald’s issues stem a lot from what is happening at the quarterback position in Arizona with Ryan Lindley playing now, who isn’t at the elite level of players. With the problems there, it is very likely that Fitzgerald’s numbers aren’t going to get much better. Arizona plays a fairly easy defense in St. Louis this week and Fitzgerald is going to have to find a way to get 5-6 catches out of the day or owners may be forced to bench him.
