Prior to Sunday’s contest against the Oakland Raiders, Andy Dalton had been one of the hottest quarterbacks in all of football. In fact, coming into this game, Dalton had thrown for 728 yards and seven touchdowns over the last three.
Once Sunday’s game came to an end, Dalton remained red hot.
Dalton made Bengals fans completely forget about their former quarterback that was in the building, Carson Palmer. While Palmer struggled, Dalton shined, throwing for 210 yards, three scores and no interceptions. On the year, Dalton now has 23 touchdowns, which ranks 5th in all of football. He is ahead of guys like Matt Ryan, Robert Griffin III and Matthew Stafford.
From a fantasy perspective, Dalton is rapidly emerging into a clear-cut number one quarterback. He has eclipsed at least 25 fantasy points the past three weeks and has very solid weapons around him. Dalton connected with six different receivers on Sunday, throwing two touchdowns to Mohamed Sanu, as well as a score to Jermaine Gresham. Meanwhile, A.J. Green is arguably the best wide receiver in football, and he and Dalton have developed one of the best connections in the league.
Right now, Dalton ranks sixth in fantasy points among quarterbacks. Unless you own one of the elite names, Dalton needs to be considered a confident start week in and week out. He has been on an absolute tear as of late, and will have to continue the stellar play as the Bengals are clawing for a playoff spot. See what I did there?
