Fantasy Football: Darren McFadden Not Expected To Play

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

There are fantasy owners everywhere who drafted Darren McFadden expecting him to have a great year running for the Oakland Raiders. Well, it looks like McFadden will once again not be available for those fantasy owners or the Raiders at all this week for Oakland’s game at home against the Cleveland Browns. You can expect Marcel Reece to once again control the running game for the Raiders.

Reece is a threat out of the backfield for the Raiders as a favorite target for Carson Palmer so get Reece into your lineup now if you still can as Reece I think should end up with around 110 total yards and a touchdown against a Cleveland defense that is a middle of the road fantasy defense against running backs. The best way to employ Reece would be in your flex spot and if you want another Raider to try out, go with Darrius Heyward-Bey. Heyward-Bey could find success against a soft Browns secondary that while improving, can be had for a big gain here and there.

The injury bug has been one that strikes McFadden every season without fail. He will be on my list of players I want no part of when it is time to draft for the 2013 season unless you are positive you can get his backup to sit on your bench when McFadden gets hurt yet again. It is good for the Raiders though to have an option like Reece available and he could be a solid sleeper option next season if Reece can find a starting job somewhere else.
