After Adrian Peterson tore his ACL in Week 17 last season, I placed him on my list of players I wouldn’t draft in 2012 for fantasy football because I wasn’t sure how well he would come back. The people who had more faith in Peterson got a treat on Sunday with Peterson’s 210 yard rushing effort for the Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers. Peterson is almost at 1,500 yards rushing with four games still to play and could easily finish near 1,900 yards.
Peterson even sprung an 82-yard touchdown in the game as fantasy owners rejoiced in seeing him running down the sidelines. Peterson has been over 100 yards rushing in his last six games but will be facing a difficult test next week in the Chicago Bears, who held Peterson to 108 yards rushing in Week 12. If you have Peterson on your roster, you can’t sit him now with next week’s game in Minnesota as well. That fact just helps Peterson’s cause even more.
If you can survive Week 14 with Peterson, he has an easier matchup in Week 15 that will greatly increase your chances of making the championship game. The Vikings should get Percy Harvin back soon as well which should allow for more holes for Peterson to be able to rush through. I give you all the credit in the world if you had the guts to draft Peterson highly in your draft because you are reaping all the benefits now with the fantasy playoffs about to get started.
