Week 13 Fantasy Football Winner: Wes Welker

There are fantasy football owners of Wes Welker that have come to expect seeing Welker have at least six catches a week. On Sunday, Welker doubled that in a 12-catch, 103-yard performance that had to help fantasy owners get closer to the playoffs in the final week of the regular season. It seemed like Tom Brady wanted to throw the ball to Welker on every single play in the first half as Welker finished with ten catches in just the first half alone.

Brady looked for Welker 18 times in the game and Welker delivered again like he has for the last few years. With the playoffs for fantasy owners coming up next week, it will be very important to see how much Welker plays in the final few games now that the New England Patriots has clinched the division. You should be safe with Welker for at least Week 14 and 15 but Week 16 gets a little testy if the Patriots decide to give some starters a few extra snaps off to keep them fresh for the playoffs.

If you have Welker on your roster, you are going to start him no matter what anyway but the owners in the PPR leagues must love what they saw on Sunday with more and more points piling up as the afternoon wore on in Miami. It will be a tougher matchup next week against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football but I figure that Welker is good for another 6-8 catches for 60-80 yards and a touchdown.
