Fantasy Football: Sit Tony Romo This Week During Playoffs
As we begin the first round of the fantasy football playoffs this week, there are players that you probably just don’t want to go with if you are looking to advance on to next week’s semifinals. I’ll give you one name right now that will disappoint fantasy owners without a doubt in my mind and that’s Tony Romo. Romo faces a terrible matchup on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bengals just slowed down New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning a couple weeks back and it is likely that the Bengals will be able to do it again to Romo. Yes, Romo has been a fairly good fantasy quarterback in the last few weeks but hasn’t had to face a defense like Cincinnati has. This is the kind of week where if you have to start Romo that your other players have to come up big and carry the rest of your team. It is also possible that if Romo does struggle, it will have a trickledown effect on the other players on the Dallas Cowboys namely Dez Bryant.
There is no way I’m sitting Bryant this week with his recent production but I would temper my expectations for him. Bryant may only end up with 3-4 catches for 50-60 yards. If you are looking for a replacement for Romo, you can look very simply right across the field at Andy Dalton. Dalton should finish with over 280 yards and 2-3 touchdowns against the Dallas defense. I would suggest starting Dalton and not Romo this week.
