As Sunday morning begins for fantasy football owners, there is some concern that New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks may be out today for the Giants’ game at home against the New Orleans Saints. It is looking more and more likely though that Nicks will play this afternoon and with it being a 4:25 Eastern kickoff, the first wave of games would be ending before you saw whether Nicks would be out or not.
Nicks has a very nice matchup against the Saints’ defense as well and could easily end up with over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown or two. In fact, anyone involved in the Giants’ offense would be worth starting this afternoon so be sure you have Ahmad Bradshaw and Victor Cruz in as well for New York. I do think though that you should have a backup player on your bench with either a late matchup or is in the Sunday or Monday Night games. If I was going to suggest anyone, I would say players like Randall Cobb, Brandon Pettigrew or Owen Daniels because it would be best to have Nicks in your flex spot this week so you can make a move like that.
It does look like Nicks will give it a go though as of now. I would suggest making sure you are checking the inactive list later this afternoon so you can get Nicks out of your lineup if he does suddenly becomes unable to play. It is the first week of the playoffs after all and mistakes only hurt worse now. It’s time to get started.
