Fantasy Football Week 15: WR Demaryius Thomas Will Have 100 Yards, One TD

Before the 2012 fantasy football season started people all over the blogosphere were debating which wideout for the Denver Broncos would benefit more from the addition of quarterback Peyton Manning, DeMaryius Thomas or Eric Decker.

However, that debate was quickly resolved once the season actually started. Through 13 games this season Thomas is leading the offense in every receiving category, as he has 83 receptions for 1,197 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Thomas has easily become Manning’s number one receiver downfield and in the red zone.

This weekend Denver plays an aging Baltimore Ravens secondary.  The Ravens are currently ranked 23rd against the pass and should easily be a matchup that Thomas can exploit.  He is much taller (6’3”) than all of defenders on the Baltimore depth chart and he has developed an innate ability to go up in the air and grab the football.

Thomas has built an amazing rapport with Manning over the last month.  In Week 13 Thomas caught two touchdowns, with one of them coming on a throw that Peyton made before Thomas even came out of the break of his route.  This proves how much Manning trusts Thomas right now, because not many quarterbacks would throw a ball to a certain spot and expect the receiver to be there every time. This just shows these guys are finally on the same page.

Manning and Thomas both had similarly dull opening numbers in the fantasy football playoffs this year.  However, running back Knowshon Moreno’s 119-yard performance last weekend will certainly open up some more passing lanes for Manning to expose, not to mention the obvious advantage of play-action passes this weekend.

Manning will have a huge game in Baltimore this week, and so will his number one receiver.  Thomas will be running posts all game long, so expect him to get behind a Baltimore defender at least once.

Week 15 Prediction:  9 receptions, 115 receiving yards, 1 TD
