The fantasy football season is reaching its conclusion as most leagues have their semifinals this week. There are decisions to be made and players to make sure are in the lineup. I give you one player that has been invisible to fantasy owners for many weeks that is going to come back out of his shell this week. I would be starting San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis. I know after all these weeks of Davis being terrible that this seems like a bad idea but hear me out on this.
Davis gets a matchup against the New England Patriots, who are the second-worst team in stopping tight ends this season. Davis has been awful for six of the last seven weeks and I know that because he was in my starting lineup for most of those weeks but there is real potential that the 49ers actually get Davis the ball this week. I think Davis finishes with 4-6 catches for 70-80 yards and a touchdown, which is more than a lot of tight ends will give owners this week.
I know it is a reach to start Davis and will take a ton of guts but this is the week to do it. If you have suffered with Davis all season long and have started him every week just hoping he gets out of his funk, reward yourself this week with this best matchup possible situation. The game of fantasy football is about luck and I think Davis will get lucky this week against New England.
